★ 4.5Villeneuve just lets shots breathe and I am grateful for it. The whole question of whether K is real matters far less than the fact that he chooses to do a decent thing anyway, and that is the part people skip when they lazily call it slow. This is a movie about someone deciding to matter in a world that keeps insisting he does not. The sound design in the orange casino sequence has lived rent free in my head for years, and the scene where Joi and Mariette overlap is one of the most quietly devastating things I have watched a blockbuster even attempt.
